Pitted Acne Scar – What Are Causes and Please Tell Me the Cure

Acne is a common problem shared by almost everyone including yours truly but for some individuals that acne can become so severe that it permanently damages the skin. The result of severe acne is pitted acne scars. A Pitted acne scar can cause emotional turmoil for the individual who is dealing with it and thats why in this article we will take a look at the causes and some cures for those of us who have a pitted acne scar.

First and foremost I am here to tell you that this condition is not your fault and that you should not take it out on yourself and ask why me. I am here to tell you that their are tons of solutions out there for pitted acne scars and it is just a matter of choosing the right solution for you.

The root cause of acne scarring is from collagen within the skin being damaged from inflammation which leads to permanent texture changes in the skin. Even after a lesion has healed it will often have color changes associated with it.

Generally people with darker skin colors such as Hispanic and African Americans will have the most problems with acne and acne scarring.

Now that we have identified was causes a pitted acne scar why dont we talk about how to smooth them out. Now here is where I could write 20 articles on acne scarring solutions alone so what I will try to do is give you a condensed version. Furthermore, I will provide a link at the bottom of the article for additional information. Sound good?

Ok here we go. Lets talk about solutions for acne scarring starting with laser removal. This is a very popular method for breaking up scar tissue but can be expensive depending on how many sessions you have. Dermabrasion which has been referred to as a mechanical resurfacing of the skin sounds like that may sting a bit, maybe they should stay away from that phrase just a guess.

Then there is subcision which is used for atrophic scarring. Local anesthesia is used and then a needle is inserted under the scar and gently moved underneath the skin to release the scar tissue. Ok I can deal with that at least your numb right?

There are also chemical peels which again is referred to chemical resurfacing. I wonder what chemical they use for that. Topical creams sold over the counter can be used which is a little gentler and there are a ton of home remedies to try also. Just remember that these are just options and that you have many out there to choose from.
